The Food Bank of Northern Nevada invites their supporters to participate in the SNAP (formerly known as food stamps) Experience. Participants will experience first-hand the food budget challenges of 350,000 Nevadans who rely on SNAP Benefits.

The 5-day SNAP Experience will occur during Hunger Action Month on September 23-27, 2013 and is part of an awareness campaign about the hunger challenges that many northern Nevadans face each day.  To take part in the experience, participants agree to eat as healthy as possible on the average SNAP benefit, which is $4.06 per day for these five days in September.   Interested parties are encouraged to pledge to participate at the following link:  SNAP Experience Pledge.  Please direct any questions about the experience to Jocelyn Lantrip at jlantrip@fbnn.org.

Experiences by participants will be shared throughout the week on the Food Bank’s blog at fbnn.org and on the Food Bank’s Facebook page as well.

SNAP Benefits are vital to many of the Food Bank's clients. More than 350,000 people currently rely on SNAP benefits in Nevada and of those, more than half of the benefits awarded go to feed hungry children and seniors.
