The 7,100 square foot water park in North Valleys is under construction and will have an air race theme that includes more than 20 different water features and more than 60 spray heads. The new addition to the park is supported by funds from golf course water rights sales within the community and not general County funds.
The Rare Bear model installed on one of the water features at the park honors the restored 1940s military aircraft that made the transition to 21st century racing and has been a local favorite and legend at the Reno Air Races for decades.
Washoe County Commissioners Bonnie Weber (District 5) and Kitty Jung (District 3), plus other community representatives and pilots from the Reno Air Races will dedicate the model of the legendary Rare Bear aircraft. Washoe County's North Valleys Regional Park is located at 8085 Silver Lake Road in Stead.
