During the three-week period, Sparks Officers made 246 stops which resulted in 52 warnings and 194 citations. Of those citations, 59 were for cell phone use, 37 were red light violations, 22 were for speeding, and 21 were for no Insurance.
The remainder of the citations were for various violations, including drivers license/registration violations, failing to yield the right of way and pedestrian violations. Adults over the age of 20 were a vast majority of the people stopped during the campaign. Fifty eight of the 59 cell phone tickets were issued to that same age range.
The Sparks Police Department would like to encourage all drivers to put down any distractions while they are operating a motor vehicle and to follow the traffic control devices.
The Sparks Police Department would like to thank the State of Nevada Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the grant that makes Joining Forces a possibility.
